Venn diagram  

Weary, worn down, I am caught by a sudden hovering, a trick  of light on leaves, endless in its unrepeated shifting   I stand stock still, all gawking  wonder at sundry unseen forces escalating intersecting impaling inquiring illuminating   Me—the broad-leaf maple awash  in vibrant sunspots splotching hatching  dapples of itself and me  in varied verdant hues:  slender shoots of viridescence press against  a deep luxury of green, tender  play of leaf-on-leaf weaves a darkness  that proves the light. Collapsed colliding venerated,   a hundred hundred Venns diagram untold shifting lights, kaleidoscoping into, out of every other, the holy over -under on sensuous display  Brinded shadows play in passing eyes of every shade, each iris’ soft ring expands silver steel, hazel-gray, sapphire, palest blue  dot: caught  In the luminescent, transcendent swaying of this founding maple, the maple  under which I lay, undone  by all that is unraveling above me   In such common, simple stillness: the passing of an errant breeze-- irruptive, irreverent—casts loose every light and shadow, shaken off
And scattered. Never to be held  or captured, free for the finding:  shadows on shadows, lights  within lights.
